Tired of watching all that hard work literally go out the door? The Cajun Bandit™ Premium Stainless Steel Door with Southco Turn & Lift Latch solves the common issues of heat loss and smoke loss associated with the factory door your Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5″ Smoker (all model years) was supplied with. With careful attention to detail and unsurpassed manufacturing this door will virtually eliminate all smoke loss through the door while providing the much needed benefit of greater heat retention. Closure quality is increased with the inclusion of the industry best Southco Turn & Lift Latch.

All of the doors we sell are fit to a Weber WSM cylinder, but from time to time the door may have slight gaps on the top right or left side, you just have to shape the door to fit your cylinder, it may not look like it but there are slight differences from cylinder to cylinder, some receive the door and it fits like a glove, and others have found that it has to be shaped a little, it’s really simple, just bend it around a radius about the size of a gallon paint can if it’s the 18.5″ or about the size of a five gallon bucket if it’s the 22.5″, until the gap closes on the cylinder, putting more emphasis on the side with the gap.

**This door includes the Southco Turn & Lift Latch for added durability and confidence of closure. THE FACTORY WEBER KNOB CAN NOT BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS DOOR.

1 review for Cajun Bandit™ Premium Stainless Steel Smoker Door With Latch–Fits 18.5″ Weber Smokey Mountain

  1. Steven Graff (verified owner)

I have had my 18.5″ WSM since 2007, and I can’t believe I put up with the stock door for 17 years! Fiddling with the knob, adding a door gasket, bending and rebending, and even replacing it once with a new Weber door in the pursuit to reduce the leak of smoke on the way out and oxygen on the way in.

Fire control had become so bad I was considering biting the bullet and replacing my 18.5″ with a new 22 WSM.

The difference with the switch to the Cajin-bandit door is like night and day. The same gasket is in place, but the ever-present plume of smoke coming out the door is gone. Like the smoker was designed to do, air once again enters from the vents in the bottom instead of midway up the chamber. For the first time in a decade, I can control the temperature deftly using the vents at the bottom without a blower.

Until it gave out, I had relied on a Rock’s BBQ Stoker to manage the increasingly difficult task of fire control as each attempt to fix the stock-WSM door reduced the effectiveness of the seal. Now, I question whether I would have needed active control if I had upgraded to a Cajun Bandit door.

It is not hyperbole that the Cajun Bandit door has eliminated a decade of frustration with my original WSM, quieted the thought of replacing it with a 22″ WSM, and stopped my jealous gazes at the Traeger pellet smokers in Costco. Spending $60 on the C-B door has saved me a minimum of $500 on a new smoker. And more importantly, I am having fun making amazing-tasting food again!
